Helloooo sweet People!

Happy first Thursday of the year ... I hope it has all been fabby so far!

I've really wanted to play along at the new "Runway Inspired" challenge site ... so I bit the bullet, and TODAY is the day!

Here is the pic that was up for inspiration -

... and the FIRST thing that crossed my mind when I saw it was (wait for this!) BLACK AND WHITE. Amazing huh?! :0)

But moving a little laterally - I thought about that phrase that we sometimes use - "There it was in black and white!" So that is where the mojo flowed and ended up here:

(I thought, using this newspaper stamp, that the "Daily News Herald" was a great frame for the sentiment - even when my recipient doesn't know about the challenge that made it all happen!)

And the dash of red? I'm sure if you look REALLY hard the model has painted toenails. (lol).

Something New ...

... COPICS! I thought for the first post of 2012 I should venture out into new horizons/unchartered waters - that sort of thing ... and this is about as brave as it gets in my little world!

Colouring with them isn't so bad, chosing images to use with them isn't so bad - but WHAT do you do with the images once you have them?? The only thing I've managed to do so far is to stick them onto white cardstock. As soon as coloured or patterned paper comes anywhere near them I start to feel like I have colour overload! Eeeek!!

Here goes ...

Maybe it's just a symptom of where life has been for a while - soooooo busy - but I seem to be drawn more and more to really simple cards at the moment.

I came upon this card by Carly Robertson, the other day and it blew me away. It's a picture I'll return to often over this coming year and in so many ways it summarises what I'm striving for in 2012 -

To simplify, and if I do fill life up with anything - to keep those things real.

Hello world of lovely people!

I hope your Christmas holidays were absolutely fantastic! We nestled in and had a HUGE FEAST of family time - it was sooooo wonderful!

My poor little blog hasn't been very festive lately, and so I thought - with the New Year galloping towards us, I'd share a little baby card that I recently made to welcome a perfectly new, sweet little girl who was much anticipated, loved and celebrated. Welcome to the world little one! :0)

I took a bit of inspiration from Melissa Phillips during the release week of "Hanging Out" for this one. The card needed to be 100% girly, and I needed a touch of Shabby Chic inspiration!

I'd love to re-take these pics with a little more background contrast ... but getting the card in the mail was the main focus at the time. (And that covers a New Year's resolution too - to get my cards *INTO* the mail! :0)

I've been wanting to play in the "Get Inspired in the Kitchen" Moxie Fab Challenge - with this as the offering pic:

Those lines on the plate are really eye-catching aren't they? Kind of like ric-rac that has been layered and inverted ...

This is a seasonal interpretation, but I think this could be a fun idea to return to - for spring or for a masculine card?

Maybe also with a broader ric-rac?

I had a lot of fun with this - and it sure got the wheels turning.

Now to head out to a potluck. (I have the dessert -if I'm any later they'll send out a search party :0)!

Christmas Blessings

I was at a Christmas dinner a few evenings ago and met a fellow stamper (oh bliss) ... talking stamps, I mentioned that perhaps Waltzingmouse has made the most gorgeous poinsettia stamp ever?

So why isn't there a picture of one on my blog?

This is to remedy that :0)

To make the flower festive, I heat embossed it with Champagne embossing powder and then rubbed ink over the image. Fussy cut and layered. There are 4 layers to this one.

The gold berries are recycled from a past Christmas package :0)

This has been popped in to play at the PaperCrafts December Gallery Challenge , and in Waltzingmouse's Gallery Challenge for this week too.

Back playing at the Moxie Fab World "Inspired By" ... Challenges and this one fitted right into a niche I needed a card for :

A friend of ours is taking a much anticipated trip next month - and we wanted to send him off with some well-wishing. He has a lively sense of the ridiculous ... so we'll be giving him this :0)

I think it will garner a smile! There isn't much to show in a deet shot, but for the sake of tradition, here goes ...

Such a great button, isn't it? :0) Hee, hee.

Rusticating

It's lovely isn't it? It's the present inspiration picture for the Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World. The colours, the texture, the atmosphere. This struck an instant chord with me and I really wanted to do something with it.

The door is my favourite item in this picture - so my card took that direction too ...

With one little red heart to capture the goodness of those beautiful cushions.

(Sorry if the angle of this one makes you seasick - it was a bit extreme :0)

And a final note for this entry - the lovely OLD book that my card is on, is a fascinating read. It contains everything from how to cook real food in the kitchen (for the healthy and the sick) and recipes for the cure of all sorts of illnesses. But my favourite thing is a newspaper clipping stuck inside with the following : "I am willing to risk my reputation as a public man if the worst case of small-pox cannot be effectually cured in three days simply by cream of tartar. This is the sure and never-failing remedy: 1 oz of tartar dissolved in a pint of boiling water, to be drunk when cold at short intervals. It can be taken at any time, and is a preventive as well as a curative. It is known to have cured in thousands of cases without a failure. It never leaves a mark, never causes blindness, and always prevents tedious lingering of the disease."

We don't know the gentleman's name. Do you think his reputation survived the never-failing cure?? :0)

Inspired by Fashion ...

A new yummy pub is out from Paper Crafts and Cath is hosting a week of fabby challenges to see it off. Here is the first one - Inspired by Fashion, with this lovely picture laying out the 'runway' for us to take off :0)

So sweet! I decided to start off right 'inside the box' on this one and then sort of 'colour outside the lines' a bit.

The size of the jacket was the start of my inspiration - the proportions are for a child ... and then of course the fabric (both the outside texture and the silky lining), the houndstooth pattern and the sparkle of the pins.

So it's a child's outfit - embossed with a fabric pattern - well inside the box. But the giraffe is well dressed in her houndstooth - complete with a matching button, accessorised with a lovely silky ribbon ...

And the sparkle comes through in the silver sentiment - also in the snaps to fasten things up :0)

What fun! Thanks for the challenge Cath - and thanks to you for stopping in and sharing with me!

Dear people of the world .... (yes I recently watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory :0)

Yawn, stretch ... waking up here. Actually not really, the blog has been sleepy, but my little crafty life has been humming - because out here in the world, I have real friends who have real sorrows and real sadness and I needed to be real and available too - and I just haven't been able to blog the things that have gone out from my hands and heart to them. Those things just needed to be left real.

I also really needed to take a spot on this blog to acknowledge the passing of Katie Renz. Although I can't say that Katie was a personal friend, like so many people out here in the blogosphere, I really wanted Katie to beat all of the odds, to go on to be able to be a mum to her children and a wife to her husband. I'm so grieved that it wasn't to be. Just so, so sad. My heart is truly with Katie's family at this time. There really isn't anything I can say that would do my feelings for the struggle she shared so openly and bravely with us all justice.

Here is a share of a card I made a long time ago and never posted - it's made with an image from the first digi kit that was being sold on Katie's behalf.

I needed a card for someone who I knew would appreciate something very light, delicate and pretty and was really inspired by this beautiful card here.

I have been wondering about watercolouring with distress inks, and this was a real push to give it a go!

I don't have any watercolouring paper, but the Stampers Select seemed to be alright, so long as it wasn't completely drenched!

This friend has been an enormous blessing - and *such* an encouragement to me recently - so I hope this returns a little of that back to her again too!

Lovely! And so very inspiring!

The challenge for me was to try and create something that didn't look like Christmas ... the kraft helped a lot!

Check out the polka dots :0) Good things those! *Wink*!

And a little deet shot (so you can see all my embossing powder 'dandruff', hee. I find when embossing with white on white, I never see all the little extras until rubbing ink over the top of them, when it's a bit late! Oh Well. Handmade.)

Going Dotty!

Helloooo world of lovely peeps!

I'm trying to hype up some mojo here after the bug (bleurgh) - the mojo flew away so badly that I was starting to think about updating the blog with a muffin recipe - pumpkin muffins anyone?! :0) Anything to break the silence!

Anyhoo, here was the best the mojo could give me right now:

For some reason Polka Dots are driving me batty at the mo - {LOVE}! - and this bloom builder die is right up there too - soooo they happily ended up on a card together.

(This fit in with the Moxie Fab World's Felt Challenge which is running right now - all because of that luscious big bloom!)

These colours remind me of a summer that has matured into early fall - it's happening here! The days are still utterly perfect - but the nights are a tad crisp and some of the bushes around us have caught the hint ...

So there it is ... thanks for stopping in - hope this finds you in the middle of a day that's just perfectly perfect!

Boo the Bug!

Hello Peeps!

I have a flu bug - it's very friendly and persistent and really doesn't want to leave me by myself (despite all those extra vitamins, water, sleep) ... horrid little thing!

I just wanted to share a project which is in the September/October issue of PaperCrafts Magazine - which went on sale this week:

The label on the jar was created from sticky back canvas - and I can't believe how easy canvas is to stamp on with dye ink - there really wasn't a lot of ink bleeding at all. I had a fun learning curve.

Anyhoo - no hugs today :0) I would really like you to have a *great* one - and you don't need this pesky bug!

Embellish Challenge

Hellooooooo lovely people!

Have you seen the lovely colours that are being used for this month's Embellish Challenge? Soooo pretty!

I found them so inspiring and decided to use them for a quick card. I used an emboss resist with distress inks in this one, because the second concept of the challenge is 'colouring'.

I used sponges to colour the images, but here is a quick tip for the round centres where a sponge can be inaccurate .... if you adhere a pearl in place and then run a Q tip which is saturated in Dye ink around the pearl, pressing lightly against it, it keeps the colouring perfectly circular. (Does that make sense?)

The kraft colour of the challenge is used inside the floral centres - just in *case* you were wondering :0)

It's August?!

Wowzers, I can't believe that August is here already! We were invited to a last minute reunion and completely disappeared with less than 18 hours notice for a while - and every bit of inconvenience (including the one missed flight) were completely worth it. Such a fantastic time!

I'm going to share an older card with you today - it has been on the blog-o before, a loooooong time ago and I really did love it, and never managed to give it away. But after seeing one of my dear friends again, I think it needs to go and live with her. So this post is to say goodbye to this card - (sniff, sniff ;0)

And I hope that it makes her day and gives her a smile!

All the other crafting coming out of my craft room at the moment is pretty practical - in other words QUICK to make - I just have a lot of cards that need doing.

I'll share one of those quicksters in the next few days here :0)

Helloooo Peeps!

A friend asked me to make a Wedding Card for a couple who will be getting married in August in her family ... so I asked a few questions about them to try and make something suitable.

The couple hosted a rehersal party and I saw the invite - it was cute, cheeky, said the evening would end with dancing in a cow barn ... and contained the colour purple ...

So I turned to a card made by Nichole Heady during the release week of Hanging Out for this one (why mess with ready made perfection?) CASED it and switched it up a bit - to end up here :0)

I loved making these little clothes - but must say that those dinky stamp pieces in this set terrify me (can't remember how often I checked to see they were all still there!)

Hope they all enjoy :0) And hope the cows had fun too!

Real Perty ...

Hello lovely people!

The last Tuesday Trigger (Perty & Flirty) over at the Moxie Fab World had me a-sighing right from the word GO! I really would LOVE to wear this cutie little jacket ...

and that lovely pink wallpaper background? Just so fresh - and the two together!!! Well, HOW can you resist?

It was the beautiful contrast of the yellow jacket on the pink that I wanted to try and capture in a card ... that and the beautiful freshness :

The little rose pattern is stamped with a darling set from Stampin Up! called "Baby Blossoms", the rolled rose is a die from My Favorite Things. I popped a little brown pearl in the rose centre to echo those lovely chocolately buttons!

The edge of the decorative paper is trimmed with a Spellbinders label (11) and a Papertrey Edgers die was used for a tiny bit of pink detailing for the rose to rest on.

So there it is - I'm off to pop this in before the Moxie Fab Challenge closes up - but this fits in the Wee Memories CAS Challenge this week, so I'm going to play along there too!

Really Fanatical ...

about Botanical! :0)

I'm still living over at the Moxie Fab World here and wanted to pop another interpretation of this theme in for the Moxie Fab World Challenge ...

This is a bit of a turn around from the last one - where the butterfly was in the background (literally), and uses the idea of a blue French Toile for the dogwood blossoms ... this time it's the butterfly that's 'real'!

After colouring the butterfly, I gave it a wash of Oyster Twinkling H2O's - to add some 'mothy shimmer' to its wings. You can't see it all the time, only when it catches the light.

All in all it has a light airy feeling, and between the rhinestones, satin ribbon and moth shine - it has a lovely twinkly shimmer in reality!

Fanatical about Botanical ...

Yes seriously - another card already - but have you seen what's up at the Moxie Fab World??? - they've gone Fanatical about Botanical something I've been all my life! (Ceramics, books, prints, soft furnishings ... I love it!)

So I'm playing along already -

Lots of different stamps in this one :0) I will come back and edit what they all were later ... I layered the stamps on the background and then paper pieced the blossoms over the top, curling the petals back and mounting them on dimensional foam ...

I didn't want to create a traditional card, mounted on a card base, but wanted to try something a bit more freestyle. One of the tiddleywinks said "it looks like a piece of old paper that you put a flower on ..."

Voila! :0)

Chocolate Anyone?

O.K. so three posts in three days ... I think that's a first - but it's going to get quiet here for a while, I have some homework to do :0)

Today is the final day to pop our cards in for the Summer Camp Colour Combo for the week - which is this:

Anyone else immediately think about Valentines boxes full of chocolates?? I did and just couldn't shake the conviction - so instead of a Valentines card, swung it this way instead ...

This was the first time I've tried embossing with tinsel embossing powder - it was a bit different to work with when compared with regular embossing powder - but unlike loose glitter, it doesn't seem to be flaking all the time. (Which is a good thing :0)!

Okey dokey, I need to go and be good now - and do all sorts of very NON crafty things!

Two posts in two days :-0!

I opened my new PTI Anniversary set today - Botanical Silhouettes and I'm in LOVE. Seriously, hopelessly and totally. This just might be one of my favourite stamp sets ever.

I needed a quick gift set for someone and made 2 each of these three designs, stamping a little botanical image on the corner of the envelopes with the "Garden Variety" set.

The pictures really don't do them justice - the Poppy and Avocado ink just pops off the white - and that script is delicious ...

This is the only design I added a bit of bling to ...

O.K. that's me. I'm done gushing. But really, really peeps, I think these are going to become my new signature notecards - they're really quick and really elegant! (Have I said how much I love this stamp set??)

I'm popping these in at the Moxie Fab World's Stamp It! Challenge - *sorry* Cath - it's my second submission :0(

And now I'll go and have a cold shower and calm down :0)

Summer Blooms

Howdy everyone!

Are things heating up in your part of the world? We're finally starting to experience a real summer here - with delicious warm days that feel just about *perfect*!

I don't know why, but I've had a real urge to go back to where stamping started for me over the past little while - maybe it's because there is just so much you can put on a card nowadays that I feel a bit overwhelmed? But I can't forget how the magic of matching cardstock, ink, patterned paper and ribbon gave me an absolute thrill in the beginning!

So this card was made - because the cicadas are squeaking outside AND the world has matching cardstock and ink :0)!

The 'vase' is created from the negative piece of PTI's Seed Packet Frame die, which I stamped with some distressed stripes to give it some detail.

The flowers and the central panel are mounted on some foam dots for dimension. The centres are layered with homemade and bought buttons - and a little bitty bling :0)

... and I'm popping this in to play at the Moxie Fab World's "Stamp It! Cards Challenge"

"Beautiful Borders" ...

And a happy Saturday to the world :0)!

Cath posted the next Moxie Fab Challenge a while ago - full of luverly inspiration from Betsy Veldman! The challenge was to bring out our best border ideas and to do something fun with them ...

Sooooo, when this idea came along I wanted to run with it - because this card is pretty much about borders - take them away and there really isn't a whole lot left ...

But I was hoping that the use of borders didn't look contrived either! :0) Besides the use of two fun colours - I used a bit of stitching to bring out the repeated straight edge along the top.

The flowers stamped in the scallop along the bottom edge are heat embossed - for maximum pop! (I just LOVE blue and white together!)

My hunkadorus loves the white minamilist look - and objected to the lovely background paper in the first pic - so this one's for him :0)

Everyone tuning in for the Gallery Idol countdown and ready to cast your votes? It's going to be pretty intense I think - ALL the best to those lovely ladies that made it! Woot, woot!

Gift Set

Hello Everyone! Happy Thursday!

I have been busy with a little gift set for someone - who lives quite far away from us ... if she lived a little closer I'd probably take her some muffins or a bottle or two of homemade jam - however, considering things need to be mailed, I thought some cards with a matching tote may be better :0)

Here are some of the cards - the telephone is from the "Just Saying Hi" stamp set from Hero Arts and the paper is Thrift Store from October Afternoon. I used iRock gem accents because they're so flat and mailable - which will make postage easier for her!

The envies are stamped with another smaller image from the same set, to keep the theme going.

So, I hope my little gift makes it across the miles and gives my friend a little smile!

How much fun are fabrics like these? Or how about this batch? Who wouldn't like to add a couple of mugs like these to the kitchen? And I was pretty sure that I *needed* a new bag urgently!

Unfortunately they haven't employed me as their new marketing manager (in case you're wondering), but I came away with a heaping dose of patterns and colours in my head!

So the challenge!

Is to take some inspiration from any picture or combination of pictures from the site ... but if you use co-ordinating scraps (those lonely little bits) of patterned paper from your stash and incorporate a flower - you get extra points in my book!

First off - HAPPY CANADA DAY! I hope it's full of outdoorsy, family, happy times for everyone who is celebrating!

I also wanted to pop in a bit of over-excitement here : My very, very first publication acceptance is actually in PRINT and I can't believe it!

When the acceptance notice came through, July seemed like a looooooong way off - and WOW it's here already!

Paper Crafts have Stamp It - Cards Volume 8 on the shelf and I'm anxiously watching out for the mail at the moment! (But after the mail strike, things are going a little slooooooowly!)

O.K. so it's just a little teaser pic ... but I didn't get a REALLY good snap - and for a first it should be a REALLY, REALLY good one - don't you think?? :0)

I'm up for the Peeps Challenge this month - and hopefully will have that done a bit later today! Lots of stamping happening here at the mo and *not* much enthusiasm for the finished results - urgh!

Hi Peeps!!

I'm missing you all and haven't forgotten all the fun in the crafty world! Actually we've just come back from Europe and a historical tour there with a lecturer whose motto was "sleep is for the dead"!! Ha, ha!! And he wasn't joking either!

Actually we're all so pooped that we just about qualify :0)!

Thankfully all my bags made it home...but my mojo must still be somewhere up the Eiffel Tower...

Something for Saturday...

Hi everyone!

It felt so strange not having to post this morning, that I thought it was time to rectify the problem...

The bigger problem being that I haven't had any crafty time this week :0) So here is a card from the 'less loved' stack which I haven't shared yet!

This was the only card which I managed to sub for the last Stamping Royalty contest held by Paper Crafts - and although it didn't fly for that, I really did love it.

After taking these pics, I shifted the sentiment circle over to the right a tad - the balance was better - but the pics were done, and that's how it will be remembered :0)

Everyone well?? We've had the change of season bugs come upon us over the last week - our whole community seems to be in rough shape with this one! Bleurgh!

But the garden is growing, the chipmunks are running around everywhere (so cute!) and spring is on its way!

Helloooo friends! Another Saturday - and BOOOHOOO - my last week to play along at Wee Memories! I've had such fun and their DT are totally amazing and so warm and kind! Thank you Jenny and the Wee Memories team for having me!

This week the focus is on paper piecing ... so I decided to scratch out some of my treasured hoard and get snipping:

Yes that really is some Basic Grey "Bittersweet" you see in there! The fun thing about pulling out older paper pads, is that it's a bit like meeting old friends again :0)!

I tried to keep the focus very much on the cupcake - some prisma glitter on the icing and a dollop of Glossy Accents on the cherry. (I'm looking forward to some Sweet Blush ink with a tad more heft to it coming out though! My sentiment would have appreciated it :0)

A Girly Saturday ...

Saturday morning means another day to play along at Wee Memories - and it's a day of Girly Fun!

Woooo!! Inspiration just flows out of this one!

I decided to turn to some really fun Hero Arts stamps - which had kinda forgotten what ink felt like, for this one - and decided to give most of the set some inky love - like so:

The pink shoe is paper pieced with some Raspberry Fizz paper and then I heaped on a good helping of Glossy Accents - just in *CASE* someone missed it!!

And it was photographed on some funky green paper just to keep the vibe going here!!

Life ...

Helloooo everyone!

I just wanted to drop in and let you know why I'm so horribly AWOL at the moment...(I know my blog is happening slowly, but my commenting has dropped off to almost nothing - I apologise!!)

I know that there are many people who talk about having a dream. I have had a dream too - and the funny thing is that my dreams are usually pretty dry to other people :0) For a while I have been studying hard - partly because I teach my kids and partly because I love to learn. A couple of months ago I expressed my deepest dreams to my hunkadorus about having the opportunity to study personally, under the tutelage of a couple of my favourite historians/authors/teachers.

In the weirdest Cinderella story that dream has come true. What I never expected to happen has happened. Like an unbelievable novel, where the protagonist just HAPPENS to be in the right place at the right time, and just HAPPENS to bump into the right person, and everything just HAPPENS perfectly ... life really happened and the offer to do JUST THAT was extended without my ever having to request anything. I have always believed in the hand of Providence - but can't remember ever experiencing something so unexpectedly wonderful!

So the point of this post is that my crafty life is having to take a back seat right now. The studying to participate in the course has started. It's hard. It's thought provoking and it's good. And I am *unspeakably grateful* for this opportunity!

I will be playing the next few challenges at Wee Memories because I promised to be there this month - and I'm sure that when the books get too heavy in between times, I may make a card to vent some of that pent up creative frustration ...

But overall, I do need to take some time off - and I'm so sorry to be such a bad blogging friend. You've been so wonderful to me over my creative endeavors - *THANK YOU*!

I don't know how the next while will pan out. But wanted to let you know where things were at.

Wheeeeee! Welcome to my post for Wee Memories challenge #52! And welcome to Saturday! :0)

I'm having so much fun playing along with the ladies at Wee Memories this month - the challenges have been so inspiring and I think this may just be my favourite title so far ... Awwwww!

I used a little stamp from The House Mouse collection for this card - which features sweet little Monica asleep on a cotton puff.

There is a touch of glitter on the puff and some pretty Organza ribbon to finish it off, with loodles of pink and white for a baby girl!

The winner of this weeks challenge will take home some scrumptious goodies from "Your Next Stamp" - I'm soooooo green!! Enjoy!

Hi Everyone!!

Almost the middle of the week already - I can't believe how the days just FLY BY! Getting any crafty time in at the mo?

The Paper Crafts Connection blog is having a challenge at the moment to create a wedding card - and it was just the push I needed to try out something which has been going around my mind for a while ...

Pretty simple but it really does make me happy! I'm kinda sad that it needed to be photographed against a darker background because it loses some of the whispery delicate quality ... but that organza ribbon just didn't show up on a light background at all!

The rose is created using a My Favourite Things die - and was cut from felt. The little tag is vellum which has been heat embossed with gold ...

Now I need to find someone who is getting married!! No one we know is walking the aisle any time soon - hopefully it will keep :0)!!

It has been a busy week here - but I wanted to squeak under the door for the Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World this week ... it's called "Farm Fresh".

O.K. and if you're wondering "What on earth??!!" you're not alone :0) For some reason I just couldn't imagine limewashed tables with this one ... or lavender ... or blue and white china ...

I just saw retro. Maybe it's a memory of a kitchen I've been in? Maybe it's the blue and orange mix? - but that's where the inspiration took me and it stuck :0)

Please note the fuzzy edges on my cut paper strips (~~time to replace the blade on my trimmer~~) that was totally intentional to give them the 'homespun look' - *cough*. LOL :0)

Hi Everyone :0)!! Today I have some *mahoosively* exciting news - Wee Memories have very kindly asked me to be their Guest Designer for the WHOLE of April!! Wheeeeee! I'm so happy and have had a little dance going on for a while here now! I have really loved their challenges, and it's soooo exciting to be a part of the fun from the other side for a while!

For those peeps who have hopped their way here - you must have arrived from Jenny's Blog - and know that our colours for this week were to be taken from this inspiration pic:

And you probably also know that our amazing sponsor for this week is Niki Sivils Scrapbooker ... I had a delicious peek over at her site a few days ago and her papers are totally beyond adorable!! Yummy!! And it sounds like some of that goodness is going into the hands of this weeks Wee Memories winner - ENJOY!

With an inspiration pic like that the challenge really is wide open isn't it? I decided to create a project that used many of those pretty hues ...

I saw a gorgeous card by Jessica Witty that used a quilted look like this in one of the Paper Crafts issues ... and another quilted card by Laurie Schmidlen a while ago and have been meaning to give a similar idea a whirl ... today's the day :0)

I used a kraft base - because it reminded me of the wood at the tip of the pencils too!

Helloooo again ... :0)

Here is a card that was ~~not loved~~, ~~overlooked~~, ~~unwanted~~, ~~under appreciated~~, um. *sigh*. That would really be *rejected*, by Paper Crafts in the last submission call :0)

The challenge was to get creative with Canvas - something I'd never tried before. I was quite astonished to find that it held a stamped image really well. I had expected far more bleeding. So this was a bit of fun - starting with the stamped gingham (which looks like fabric) and then overlaying the actual canvas fabric over that image, and stitching it through ...

I used a Rustic White card base as the starting point. I really love the old country look that resulted.

Paper Crafts very kindly honoured me with an acceptance for the publication ... but it obviously wasn't for this poor creation :0) LOL!

Oh well!!

Hellooooo Peeps!! I thought I'd schedule a post in for while we're away ... and I had something new to play with - so it wasn't too difficult to find something to pop in here :0)

My Mind's Eye brought out some really delightful Doily stamps in their "Stella and Rose - Gertie" line - and although they aren't photopolymer, at $6 the temptation to try them out was quite overwhelming. They're cute. Very cute ...

They're stamped over a Waltzingmouse Text-it background in white ink on Kraft. A touch of crocheted lace..

... and a rosebud that really reminds me of my Grandmother - who had an old fashioned rose garden when I was a tot, and I still remember rows and rows of incredibly beautiful roses!

Hi everyone! :0) Another week - and this one is an exciting one for us! My Hunkadorus (who has been working sooooooo hard) is snatching us off for a week away - starting Wednesday! This isn't just any week away, but a week that includes hotels and restaurant food. (We really don't often do this). And a week is just about the right amount of time to start missing your own bed - and understanding all of those Christmas carols that sing sentimentally about home cooking ... heee!

I don't know if there will be internet access for us or not ... so I apologise in advance if I turn out to be a really bad blogging buddy this week.

So in amongst all of the clothing, ironing, packing, list making ... I have a card!

The Embellish Challenges are up and going again and I have really been wanting to play. So when this challenge was posted I fell in love with the colours ... and jumped in:

The idea is that the card should be masculine ... but I found these colours *so inspiring* for a non-traditional baby/very young boy, card! (But baby boys are still boys after all :0)

I'm still needing baby boy cards - so this worked well for me there too :0) Don't you love the red and baby blue together, with the hint of green, rather than the traditional yellow!? (Um - in case my camera is telling tall stories again ... that's Spring Moss cardstock in there :0)

I think the idea was to leave all the bling off. Oh well ;0)!

Happy Thursday everyone!! (Actually, happy *St. Patrick's Day*, everyone!! :0)

Peeking around blogland yesterday evening, it looks like this weeks Trigger at the Moxie Fab World has inspired people to create in all sorts of different ways! So much fun!

For those peeps who haven't met this weeks inspiration pic:

Linen, creamware, kraft and buttons. (With the concept of food hovering in the atmosphere of this picture too :0)

For some reason this triggered the idea of rustic French Country dining for me - maybe the creamware plate? And linen has such a timeless quality about it - something that has been used, worn and appreciated for millennia.

So I decided to go a little aged and rustic - and keep to the table theme (I LOVE table decor), to make some slightly different place cards ...

The textile element is present in the gingham, some stitching - as a nod to the beautiful hemming on the napkins, and some distressing because of the rustic country dining that somehow was evoked for me. The base cardstock is rustic white.

Actually, I found this concept a lot of fun and wondered how gingham napkin holders with button closures would look with these ... hmmmmm!!

I think those may be coming soon to a table near me :0)!!

Something Springy.

Hi everyone! The poor hunkadorus is having a tough week - he just came in for dinner, and had to head out again.

He brought the mail - and there was a package for me (a skinny little one) and inside was something that was pretty exciting to see!

I have been trying to hunt down a punch that would give me a lovely lawn for ages. Every time we headed out of town I'd try at a few different places - but never came up with anything. So I was pretty excited to discover that My Favorite Things carries a grass die!

So spring is in the air ... and I'm rolling out a lawn here :0)!

So it was a quick and simple card this evening, but oh-so much fun to get the stamps and ink out!

A Little Shimmer ...

Hi Peeps!! I'm 4 1/2 dresses down since the last post (for me that's really MOVING :0)! and I'm missing getting inky!

I made this card to enter the Moxie Fabulous "Stamping with Shimmer Sprays" Challenge a few days ago and suddenly realised that my time to enter the challenge is almost over!

I started off by stamping some inkadinkadoo snowflakes onto white cardstock, with Versamark ink and heat embossing them with Kaleidoscope embossing powder. It shimmers when it catches the light - but otherwise just looks white.

I then applied a liberal spritz of Tattered Angels "Frost" glimmer mist ... to end up here:

When the mist was completely dry, I used a slightly moist baby wipe to remove any excess mist from the embossed sections - which kept them nice and white.

The end result is subtle, clean, serene and pretty ... not too glittery. It's quite a quiet card - despite all that spray!

Happy Thursday everyone! (Thursday - can you believe it??!)

Life is going through one of those super-hectic times here. Funny how things can just muddle around for a while and then someone pushes the fast forward button, isn't it?!

I thought I'd share a simple little card, made for the folks who blessed us last weekend ...

I started with some Bitty Background Blocks and used them as little mats for the other images ...

I think our mail system will ignore that one little button and let this go through under the normal postage rate - so I'm hoping it will mail well!

I'm busy trying to do some more sewing here - my favourite pattern for girl's dresses at the mo:

No zippers!!! But I do find that sewing really squishes my card making mojo - so weird!

Anyhoo. Best get back at it!

Hi everyone!! I'm so far behind in blogland at the moment - and feeling so sorry not to be in touch!

We've had a whirlwind weekend. Out of town on Friday for our 6 weekly "big shop" and to pick up our dear dog's ashes - so we've been feeling a bit quiet and contemplative again. And then Friday was a rainbow kind of day - because I came home to two Project Acceptances from PaperCrafts ... which was a big happy right in the middle of the sad!

Yesterday we spent with some new friends ... and I lost my heart completely to their 3 year old little boy! What a happy, chatty, smiling, busy, friendly, sharing, **SWEETIE**!! I told the Hunkadorus that it isn't the big guys who provide competition for a lady's affections - it's the little fellows who are the *real* heart slayers! :0) LOL!

Here is a card which I'm popping in to play at our Papertrey Peeps Challenge #2 for this year - to use red on a Valentine card. Now this doesn't have a lot of red ... but it *is* there ...

And it *is* a Valentine card! The musical score is by Waltzingmouse - and I twisted it on the block to create a bit of a curve ...

So there is my blogging for Monday - and I really hope that today ends up in some time to come out into blogland and visit YOU too!!

The sun is shining here - on all that snow we had recently. The world is very, VERY light and bright - I hope your day is bright today too - inside or out! :0)

And a HUGE BIG **THANK YOU** to everyone who left me feedback on my last card and their screen colours. It looks like I need to make friends with RAW photography ... (insert high pitched terrified squeak!) I have been shooting in JPEG and my camera obviously has a problem with yellows in the greens. And then not all monitors are created equal or true to colour either - so that requires some investigation ... so please don't hold your breath! Some learning needs to occur on this end - but I have a direction thanks to all of your WONDERFUL help - and am so grateful! Thank you all so much again!

Hi Peeps! Happy Thursday :0)!

Did you see the beautiful colours over at the CR84FN Challenge site? They're celebrating their 17th challenge this week - with this beautiful palette ...

Looks like spring all over - doesn't it?

Well, I was looking at a pad of Prima's Annalee paper ... and these colours are so beautifully incorporated in it - so they formed the basis of my card ...

I've never really considered Shabby Chic as being a strong point ... when do you stop? :0) But stretching of all kinds is meant to be good for you ...

The spiral roses were created by cutting out a Spellbinders blossom shape and trimming the spiral with an old pair of seagull decorative scissors. They were finished off with a spritz of Frosted Pearl Glimmer Mist. The label is embossed on vellum and overlaid on a smaller chartreuse paper label, so that most of it is still translucent. I think I'll be trying that again!

So there it is. I think I'd probably omit the glitter if this was made again - but it's applied with Heat and Stick powder. No going back when you've committed yourself there!!

Our local Baby Donations box is apparently out of Baby Boy cards ... so I'm on the hook for that one :0)

Cath is running a Paper Piecing Challenge at the Moxie Fab World blog this month ... and I've had this idea going around my head since December. So all things considered, the time just seemed right to play with it!

This tree is from Papertrey's "Merry Little Christmas" set ... and I didn't actually buy it for Christmas. It's just the right sort of tree to hang all sorts of goodies on - all year 'round, don't you think? (Including banners ;0)!

The little ride-on horse is from Hero Arts "Precious Baby Boy" set ... and is a wee bit of a stinker to piece, but worth the effort in the end - that image is so super-cute! He's popped up on some foam for a bit of dimension.

Some glitter and a fun ribbon/button treatment to finish it off - and I'm one in for the challenge and one down for the Baby Box :0)

It's always good to keep the chatting to a minimum on these days - so without further ado ....

A Card :0)

When Papertrey released these lovely scallop dies, I almost didn't get this size - and now it's my FAVOURITE ever - so funny how that goes!

As you can see, I got out a few different embossing folders to dress up the scallops with a bit with texture ...

The colours on this card were inspired by the ladies at CR84FN for week 16 (beautiful!) ... and Wee Memories has a challenge this week - to use inspiration from a favourite source in your creation. I've been over at the Moxie Fab World blog prepping for this one - there is always a load of inspiration there!

Hi Peeps! Have you seen the new Trigger over at the Moxie Fab World blog? I have been feeling really drawn to white space and bright colours over the past few days - and when this one popped up on the screen, the inspiration was instantaneous! Wooo!

(As Cath would say ... Check it! :0)

So it was only a hop, skip and jump to end up here:

I was talking with someone this afternoon - and there was this amazing tissue box behind them - which gave me the idea of off-setting the flower fillers and outlines in the card! (Hopefully my fascination with the kleenex wasn't off-putting to the lady I was talking to!) Eeep!

Here is a little deet shot - the centres of the flowers are circles punched out of chartreuse cardstock - with a dew drop adhered over the top ...

So there it is ... what FUN it was to put this one together!

Hi Everyone (BIG wave!! :0)

Gracious I'm really starting to miss playing along with all the fun! Our week away was wonderful - I did some sewing for my girlies (eeep, so out of practice!) and went through lots of family pictures too. It was good.

I came home to some pretty jolly, ENORMOUSLY exciting news ... a Publication Acceptance from Paper Crafts. (SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK!!) I'm a bit behind getting things together now - but hopefully everything will still go through! :0)

Anyhoo. For today, here is a little card to give loads and loodles of love to Daddy ...

The leaf is stamped with dye ink, the veins are embossed over it in gold ... and I found my missing wood buttons - which had been AWOL for what seems like forever. They were on my craft desk and I've probably looked at them every day and just not seen them !!??!!

That only happens to me - right? ;0)

Hi Peeps!! I thought I would share the card we gave to the vet who attended to our dear dog. She was just one of the wonderful people in the world - who really went to every length she possibly could to help - and was one of the most sensitive people I've met. We appreciated her more than I could express!

My mojo is feeling a little dented at the mo! So I took a HEAPING helping of inspiration from a card made by Carly Robertson, which was featured in the September/October issue of Papercrafts Mag. I loved it when I first saw it - and although the original was a baby card, I felt that it was *just* what was needed!

Here is my version ...

The paper is from My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy, Tickled Pink ... and there is a healthy helping of Waltzingmouse goodness in this one!

We will be heading off to the hills for about a week here. My hunkadorus has the days off and just needs to de-brief after all of the emotions of the past week.

Colour Goes Moxie Fab

The Moxie Fab World blog has been alive with colours for the past while ... loodles of gorgeous combos as a new pub comes out with even more offerings of colour combos .... Yummy!

We've been offered a chance to play with them - and all those hues have real names in the Bazzill Cardstock world :0)

I didn't have any Bazzill to play with (boohooo!) - so had to judge the original colours according to the cards which Cath posted for our delectation!!

Here is the combo which called loudly and clearly to my little creative soul ...

And that middle twiggy colour looked a tad warmer in the card pics than in the swatch (it's not just me bluffing right??!)

So here is where the muse meandered :0)

I ended up working with Cream, Linen and Ocean Tides on this one ... with oodles of Stickles and a sprinkling of pearls ...

The lattice work punch is new to my collection - and is made by Martha Stewart. It was a case of love at first sight for me!

NO RIBBON on this one (gasp!!) but a tad of heat embossing - I couldn't go cold turkey on everything all at once ... LOL!

Case Study #24

Hi Peeps :0)!

I have been wanting to play in the CASE study challenges for a while now - and decided that this was the week to jump in! Mercy Kerin has been the muse for the month - and this is her card that we have been inspired with this week ...

Those lovely 3 focal flowers really do pop out don't they? Earlier this week I had seen THESE beautiful vellum embellies ... and really wanted to try and make something similar.

So here is where the challenge took me:

Instead of changing the colour of the central panel, I opted to change texture for it instead. I used a strip of background stamping - inspired by the original and used stitching instead of the punched border.

The black sentiment is heat embossed on clear cardstock (a first for me, and a lot of fun to try! :0). The pearls in the background are used in lieu of the dotted sparkles in Mercy's original card ... and a lovely big button to finish it off!

So there it is! I was really pleased with the way this one turned out IRL - it's really fresh - and goes well with the weather. It's so mild that we have birds inspecting the bird house in the back yard. (They don't usually nest until March!!) I hope they don't get caught out by a cold spell!

Colour Cue Challenge #11

Here is what Dawn and the W Plus 9 team have come up with for their latest challenge - it's NUMBER 11 so far!

That last neutral gave me lots of trouble ... black (too severe??), grey (too sombre??), brown (too rich??), kraft (mmmm!) nice idea ... maybe soft stone .... (very tempting!!) ...

And then it dawned on me that there was another neutral I hadn't considered yet - something a bit out of the box that would lend a playful and fun feel to this challenge - and that's where I went ...

How about clear??? LOL! I haven't made too many clear cards in my little crafty life - they really are quite a different process aren't they?

The aqua on the card is included in the punched piece behind the focal mat ... and in the button. (I discovered that remembering to make enough layers to hide all the sticky work is the least of one's creative dilemmas with these little creatures ... photographing them is another world altogether :0)!! Ack!

So there it is :0) Thank you so much to the ladies at W Plus 9 for another round of *fantastic* fun - and thanks to you, dear reader, for taking a moment to peek in!

O.K. So I *LOVE* patterned paper. {{{LOOOOOOVE}}}!!! When I click onto an online scrapping store one of the first places I look is the DP department. Mmmmmm!

So why is it so difficult to actually USE it?? Is it because I can't bear the thought of actually snipping it up and parting with it? Or is it because deep down somewhere I'm not really a DP crafter? ( and do I really want to know a hard hitting honest answer to this question????) Seriously, it takes three times as long to make a card *WITH* DP as without!

A while ago a pad of Basic Grey's Capella came into my hot little hands. Seen any of that on the blog lately?

Sigh.

So without further ado ... let me introduce you to some thank you cards - made with very specific recipients in mind - that cut into that treasured hoard ... (drum roll please ....)

This was made for an older couple. Their taste is really traditional. She loves things that are truly PRETTY and feminine ... he is an artisanal carpenter (AMAZING stuff!)

And another .... this is for the Papertrey Peeps very own Terri Moore. The Peeps first challenge of 2011 was to make a thank you card ... and it seemed so natural to thank Terri - who organises our blog, co-ordinates challenge dates (with reminders!) and finds birthday cakes (in people's favourite colours) to grace the blog on their special day. Terri - I'm so grateful for all of the work that you put into the blog - for keeping us up, running and on the same page! You've done a wonderful job over the past year - thank you for being willing to do it all again!!

This comes with BIG hugs!!

The colours in this card are quieter - but it's actually my personal fave of the two :0)!!

Sorry for such a long post - but these were kinda similar and I thought they should go in together.

Happy Wednesday Peeps :0)!! How is the week going? We're having oodles of very COLD sunshine! It's amazing how it warms up when it snows - and really cools off when the sky is clear and the sun comes out!?!

Here is a card that I made after being inspired by a Moxie Trigger a few weeks ago. The idea came to me right after seeing the inspiration pic, and I've finally had a chance to try it out. The result is REALLY subtle and a bit camera shy ... but overall it makes me happy! :0) I see that Crazy For Challenges has a "Thank You" card challenge happening at present - so I'm going to pop this one in there to play along!

The cardstock base is Vintage Cream, the flowers and frame are heat embossed with white embossing powder...

The little butterfly was heat embossed on vellum and attached with twine 'feelers' - Dawn style!

And hopefully for those peeps who aren't a huge fan of loads of layers, this will be a breath of fresh CAS air after my last card :0)

Hi everyone! :0)

I hope that this little post finds you all happy and well ... it has been soooooooo long since I've had some time to visit and to play. So I'm really grateful for a friend who needed a baby card ...

AN EXCUSE ... AN EXCUSE ... to go and play in the craft room !! (I owe her a hug!)

This card was inspired by the last challenge at the House Mouse Challenge site too - but it's now a day late to play it. Anyhoo. I'm still happy! :0)

The papers are a mix of Papertrey and October Afternoon. The image is coloured with chalk and Prismacolors.

Aaaaaaagh! Do you know that I'm totally unaware of what the current card challenges are at the moment?? But on the upside, absence has given me time to remember (with a bit of longing) why I love this form of creativity!

I do hope to be on the rounds to visit again soon!

Glitter is Moxie!

Hi everyone!! How is 2011 going so far? :0)

The last Moxie Fab World Challenge that Cath put out was to use glitter on a project - and she got our mojo flowing with some totally gorgeous inspiration - in this "Glitter is Glam" post ... ouch - what a tough act to follow!! Hmmmm. Think, think, think ....

About a year ago Heather Pulvirenti posted a gorgeous card where she used Diamond Dust instead of glitter on a card .... it's like glitter - with a difference! So I took my cue from Heather for this challenge too :0)

The jar says to use on "styrofoam balls to create frosted ornaments, artificial fruits and flowers for a 'sugared' look" ... and you know - it really *DOES* look like sugar, LOL! It twinkles just like sugar crystals too!

The style of this card is totally inspired by Betsy Veldman - and started with the patterned paper. It's from My Mind's Eye's Fine and Dandy line, and is called 'Tickled Pink'. I thought of Betsy IMMEDIATELY when I saw it. It really should be called "Fine and Betsy" or something, doncha think?

The little Banner Border die cut poking out at the bottom of the frame was a happy crafting moment - I discovered that those little borders fit perfectly into this "Framed" stamp image - and thought that this one looked like a little tablecloth or napkin poking out of the frame :0)

So there it is. I had so much fun thinking this one through and putting it together! Thanks for the challenge Cath - and thanks to everyone who pops by!

The title of this post goes for the card and the weather .... eeeeeep .... it is FREEZING here!!

Maybe that's why white looks so good right now? I love every colour at the mo - so long as it's white. Scratch head. Shake head. Move on :0) LOL!

If you noticed a smell of burning rubber when you pulled in - that would be me - screaming in to meet the deadline for Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge - #62. These colours are so way beyond gorgeous and I've been meaning to play there for a while. So to see in the New Year - playing this challenge is something .... NEW :0)!

The flowers were stamped and embossed on vellum and then pigment ink was rubbed on the back side. I absolutely LOVE this look on a solid sheet of vellum - and wondered what it would be like if the flowers were cut out afterwards ... this is the result :0)

The leaves were fussy cut and then holes were pierced in them for the veins ... you can see them a bit behind the flowers and I'm still trying to decide if that bugs me or not?? Hmmmm. Need to give that a few days before a final verdict. (Any outside opinions?)

This will be the last post of 2010 - amazing thought. I really do wish everyone the MOST WONDERFUL 2011. It's always strange looking at my Day Planner for the year ahead. So many days and no notion at all of what they're going to hold. Some birthdays that I'm writing down - I honestly don't know if those people will still be here when their big day comes around. So we're just planning on being grateful for them every day that we *do* have!

Hi everyone!! :0) Did you have a wonderful Christmas? Did you get some awesome time off? Did you get spoiled?

We had a totally wonderful Christmas this year ... nothing outrageous, just quiet, slow and full of family. I'm sooooooo contented and happy :0) *SIGH*!

After Christmas there are always Thank You's that need to go out - and we're no exception! However, 3 of the tiddleywinks now have the flu :0( and I decided to go CAS for my thank you's (lots of CAS on the blogaroo lately isn't there? I'm sure the layers will return shortly!)

This ~~mouse full~~ ... full mouse is a thank you for some delicious Belgian Chocolates ... oh my word ... YUM!

This is for some Christmas music .... and I'm putting this one in at the Moxie Fab World - for their Strictly Stripes Challenge :0) O.K. I know those banners are NOT strictly stripes, but they really did remind me of the challenge ... and maybe new goodies just work like that. We see all sorts of 'possibilities' (or is that rule bending?) in them that perhaps was never intended! LOL!

Isn't that wonderfully elegant??? Opening up the envelope just took my breath away - what an absolutely beautiful card! This is indeed from Patty who has just blessed me more than I can say!

The embossing in those windows just gleams with light - stunning all the way through! I LOVE IT!

Patty - THANK YOU for such a wonderful blessing! I'm so tickled and touched it's hard to describe it adequately! Bless you!

Just a quick post for a CAS Christmas Card. I love this stamp set and the beautiful Christmas sentiments it contains - but have been struggling with how to keep the focus simple.

The sparkling frame was created with my i-rock and the stamped images were all heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

In for a good week Peeps?? The hunkadorus has the week off - so I'm smiling .... (and one of the tiddleywinks is practising "Kiss the Rain" by Yiruma on the piano) so things here are pretty happy and mellow.

Hi Peeps! I haven't played in a Tuesday Trigger for eons it seems - and with this gorgeous pic up on the Moxie Blog this week, it couldn't wait any longer :0)!

Isn't it pretty??!

Cath very aptly name it "A Sweet Christmas" - it's sweet in every way!

I thought about this one for a while - and had visions of cupcakes and fairytales ....

....and then thought of Basic Grey's "Eskimo Kisses" paper line ...

Perfect! ;0)

I was one of the people who was really excited when Dawn's Vintage Ornaments came out in Dies this year - and haven't used them yet! Today was the day and the time was NOW!

The tree branch is heat embossed in silver on Soft Stone cardstock (love this together!) and I then shadow stamped the branch again with Smokey Shadow ink for a bit of depth ... the ornaments were die cut and then stamped and heat embossed too ...

I added the bling with a brand new toy :0) - an Imaginisce i-rock tool; just too much fun!

So there it is :0) It's one of those projects that left me feeling really pleased - but lamenting the limitations of photography - with all that sparkle there is a lot more animation when you hold it in your hand!

Hi Peeps - some of you may have noticed that my beautiful "Designing For" blinkie has disappeared ... and rather than leave you wondering, I wanted to share a few words about that.

When I was offered the DT position at Penny Black it was under the understanding that I was free to choose which images I worked with and that they would all be at my disposal.

Unfortunately there seems to have been a 'broken telephone' situation and that wasn't the case. My crafting choices were made for me - and the last items I received were going to require me to change my crafting style substantially - and move in a direction which I hadn't anticipated, and honestly didn't really desire to go.

My blog has been a place where I've enjoyed sharing my little crafty adventures with the world - complete with the freedom to say - "Ooooh love this stamp" ... or "This one didn't turn out quite the way I'd intended" .... (That only happens to me - right :0) ? And sometimes even say things like "wish this sentiment was a bit bigger .... "!!

I wanted to keep that honesty and openess here - but if I was crafting with things I hadn't actually chosen (and in some cases wouldn't chose) and was struggling to feel confident with, it was going to be a conflict of interest for me - and end up not being fair to Penny Black either.

So I chose to go back into obscurity :0)

Penny Black has a gorgeous line of products - some just too jolly cute for words and I would have loved the opportunity to get to know the line a whole lot better. However, as things turned out, I don't think I was the person they needed to showcase the specific products they had in mind for me.

I do want to wish both PB and their DT all the very best. What a gorgeously talented group their DT happens to be!! I LOVED the time spent working with you all - thank you all so much for that blessing!

Hi Peeps :0) They say that when you haven't crafted for a while - the best way to get back in is to case someone ... so THIS challenge at Wee Memories was just what I needed! The challenge is to case something you love - a favourite card, designer, layout ...

I have loved THIS card by Debbie Olsen ever since I saw it last year - and thought it would be a great CASE to try and get back into the feel of things here ...

This was my take:

The background papers are stamped ... and I added a bow for some festive cheer.

This little fellow is coloured with chalks and pencil crayons. Don't you love the sublime expression on his face? :0) (His name is Maxwell!)

And one toot, just before I leave - not for me but for Paper Maniac . I won a certificate to this store a few weeks ago - and just have to say that Patti was so amazingly fabulous to me! My order (which was so much fun to place - the store was full of brand new DP's :0) went out less than 24 hours after I put it in. It has now arrived - beautifully packaged with everything in perfect condition - and despite the fact that such a huge portion of my order was a GC - she actually spoiled me by not charging me shipping for it as well. I felt so pampered and feel so grateful to her! THANK YOU Patti - I will definitely be back!!

And another note before signing off here - THANK YOU to all of the *sweet* people who have left me best wishes recently! I so appreciate your kindness! Things have started to improve - but I'm not up to any marathons yet :0)!!

Bling On The CAS!

O.K. Confession here -

1. I didn't buy this stamp set for Christmas cards at all .... but thought it had great potential for spring and baby cards :0)

2. Uninked stamps *CALL* to me :0)

So here it is, inked up in all its Christmassy glory ... and it *IS* so jolly cute I'm glad it didn't wait until spring after all!

Those little birdies have everyone in the house smiling at the mo ... :0)

Loads and loads of glitter and rhinestones on this - it sparkles up a storm IRL!

Still looks like I need a few lessons in photography here or else this card should go through the laundry - how else do you get your "whites whiter and your colours brighter"?? LOL!!

Heee - that was so corny :0) hope you're having a great day! It is SOOOOOO overcast here and has been so for most of the week (which is probably why bling and glitter look so good) - hope there is something in your day to make it sparkle!!

Anniversary Card - with a Twist :0)

Here is a card which is up on the Penny Black blog today. This card started off when I saw a piece of fabric - printed as a reverse toile (a white image on a red background) with an occasional charcoal image printed over the top. It was so elegant!

I love this floral stamp from the Winter Whites and Greens clear set - it's gorgeous for Christmas, but it reminds me somewhat of a bridal bouquet too. I found that it repeat stamps beautifully - the curve just fits into itself perfectly ... and so the card started to come together :0)

Just a dash of sparkle and one of my favourite kinds of sentiments ....

With some buttons and stitching to finish it off!

I have a quiet sort of card here - in the midst of a snowy day! I'm popping this one in at 2S4Y - for Laura's 66th Sketch - which is just a perfect sort of composition for a card in my book!

This is just full of stamping! The background plaid stamp is one of my all time loves ... the greenery is new from Waltzingmouse's last release.

Some sparkle - because it IS for Christmas!! (But not *too* much - this could still work for a guy card - don't you think? :0)

Poor Jenyfur who co-ordinates things for the Penny Black blog is completely and totally snowed under with no power at the moment :-0!

But as it turns out today she has managed to get a little power from a generator. Here are my projects that are up - for Jenyfur's challenge to make Tags and Gift Wrap ...

This little guy was a given for a tag don't you think ;0)! I really adore this image - it has so much volume! By colouring him - piecing the holly and punching a hole for some ribbon he really turned into a tag all by himself (and by switching out the icing and colours "he" can be a "she" in the twinkle of an eye :0)

This is just a Walmart, brown paper bag that I added some details to. The background is stamped with Penny Black's "Snow Scroll" stamp, and the flower is "Christmas Star". The poinsettia is embossed with gold embossing powder and then painted with Irridescent Gold Glimmer Mist - lots of lovely shimmer here and a few pearls to finish it off!

This was one was made with the Hunkadorus in mind! i.e. - CAS! I'm loving all of the layered tags around blogland at the mo - but they really aren't for him ... :0)

LOL! I think he'll like it!

So there it is - there are more deets on the projects and supplies listed on the Penny Black blog today - and Carole also has a project posted - looooove her beautiful work! Mmmmmm!

A little more than a week to go! This card is off to bring good wishes to a very dear lady named Patty!

With every best wish for the most beautiful and joyous Hanukkah celebration!

The star was cut with a craft knife and then coated with gold foil. I scored the lines over the top of it when the foil had been applied.

Our family has just finished reading a synchronised account of 1st and 2nd Maccabees with the writings of Josephus and other historians of antiquity. Everyone's eyes were sparkling and their cheeks glowing as the reading went on! What an amazing epic surrounds this Festival! We were really blessed by our time learning about it!

I wish every joy to all those who are preparing to celebrate it!

Wee Memories Challenge

Jenny over at Wee Memories has a fun challenge on at the mo - to use patterned paper on your card! The idea being that you should be using up that stash ... and the prize this week is being able to buy more :0) (Makes sense right!)

So here is my offering...

Now to be PERFECTLY HONEST I didn't make this card for this challenge specifically. It was made about a month ago and I never blogged it ... but that is Basic Grey Sugared paper on there (yes really - how old is that now :0) so it really does fit this challenge and I think it belongs in there!

I used silk ribbon embroidery to create some flowers on the wreath and a touch of heat embossing for the flourishes.

So there it is - last day to play is tomorrow!

Waltzingmouse November Bloghop

O.K. so I'm playing truant from school prep and getting in a little crafty time and a Blog Hop here :0)!! Feels pretty good too - heeee!

This is my first time playing along with WMS - and I'm pretty excited to be dancing along! The challenge this month is to create a Christmas themed card - and the Very Sweet Postman recently left me some delectable WMS Christmas goodness ... so it wasn't too much of a stretch!

With a sentiment like that, I couldn't resist the bell :0) ...

These colours make me happy - and I think this Bo Bunny paper is absolutely GORGEOUS ... but the DP does most of the work in this card. So there is one more, with more "hands on" stamping ....

Love the colours in this one too - and they're inspired by Claire herself! One more deet shot for those peeps who find them helpful ...

Jenyfur had a GREAT idea to challenge the Penny Black design team to create cards that were finished inside and out for the blog today! I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone has come up with - our styles are so different and I know I'll be inspired by something someone else has thought of!

I embossed this tree with Stardust embossing powder - and in reality it really shimmers and twinkles like *crazy*! The sentiment is embossed with silver embossing powder ...

These snowflakes fitted perfectly into this scallop and I thought they added an understated touch to the inside of the card ....

I'm longing to go and see what the other ladies have been up to now .... :0)

My apologies to everyone for being a terrible blogging buddy at the mo - I have had a hyoooooge amount of research work to do for school and it hasn't left me much time for the fun stuff .... I really hope to catch up with you all soon!!

Little Bells ....

Here is a card I made with Penny Black stamps - it's up on the PB blog today :0)

It all started with this cutie dinky little bell which I thought would be a *darling* addition to a card!

The colours are simple - but rich ...

Don't you love that sentiment? It says so much with such a small little word!

The background stamping is a mixture of pigment (snowflakes) and dye (script) inks ... and the flourish is embossed with gold embossing powder. All of the edges are inked - white on the background cardstock and vintage tones on the cream.

And while this post goes up, we're off to go and do a spot of early Christmas shopping! Seems *totally* appropriate don't you think ;0)

Moxie Fabulous Damask

Hi everyone :0)

Cath has a Moxie Fantabulous Damask Challenge on right now - Diggin' Damask ...

I really wanted to play along - but didn't want to use a Damask stamp - that just happened, here ...

So out came this embossing folder instead.

Now the embossing folder used is called Kassie's Brocade - which led to the question - what's the difference between Damask and Brocade?!!

I looked them both up in a dictionary and found that Damask originally came from Damascus in Syria. Brocade wasn't given a place of origin. Otherwise the descriptions of the fabrics and patterns was much the same. Anyone else have any ideas?

Here is a deet shot. I'm feeling pretty crazy about tags right now (waiting for this to arrive :0)

Apart from the sentiment - there is no stamping on this card *gasp*. They say that a change is as good as a holiday - but I'm sure Hawaii feels more exciting than that ;0)?!!

W Plus 9 Colour Cue

Hi everyone!!

Firstly a HYOOOOOGE thank you to EVERYONE who left me such kind words of encouragement after Monday! I'm feeling blessed out of my little socks :0)! Thank you a hundred times over!

Just a whizz through here to pop a card on the blogaroo for the last W Plus 9 Colour Cue Challenge - it was in honour of Breast Cancer Month - and I really wanted to play and support the cause ...

I was initially going to make my card all white with small dashes of the other colours ... it would be so light and pretty ... but then I thought of something almost completely pink for a change - and that's where it went :0)

And to add to the different feel of the card I made the butterflies dark grey and embossed the leaves in silver (hopefully that counts as grey too?!) leaving the white for small touches in the background stamping, ribbon and flowers ...

So there it is! Thanks to W Plus 9 for a *gorgeous* set of colours for a *really* good reason ... I want to play with them again!

Well, I have been pretty much BURSTING to share my BIG NEWS with everyone and today is "THE DAY" :0)

Today I make my debut on the Penny Black Blog as a new member of their incredible Design Team! I just cannot tell you what a wonderful privilege it is for me to be among these talented ladies - or how exciting to have the opportunity to help showcase Penny Black's wonderful line of stamps! It's back to the thrill of woodblock, with cling and transparent stamps as part of the mix .... mmmmmm!

Right now they are counting down to Christmas - and I got a box of goodies filled with Seasonal Fare to tempt the creative juices ... so my additions to their blog today are as follows ...

I know some people who could carry this one off - but don't happen to be one of them! 2S4Y has Laura's 64th Sketch up ... and this is where these ideas took me ...

The dress form that the sweater is hanging on was where the inspiration started (love the colour - and this Fine Linen seemed like my closest equivalent) and then I had that cutie knitted stamp from WMS ... and some snow for the cold weather ...!!

I'm one of the happy people on the planet at the moment - the gorgeous stamps I won in Caardvarks August Challenge arrived this week !! I really want to say a HYOOOOOOGE thank you to both them and Just Rite for their incredible generosity :0) Five new stamp collections and their stamp bases have come to live at my house and I'm having fun!

The "Old Fashioned Christmas" set had a gorgeous card by Debbie Olsen on the packaging which was soooooo inspiring, I took a few hints from her and tried a card of my own :0)

I'm still a Prismacolor girlie here :0) And thoroughly enjoyed doing a spot of colouring in for a change.

A little bit of Prisma Glitter for some snowy shine ... and a sentiment that makes me smile - especially paired with this image! L0L!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hi Peeps! I have been wanting to post something on my blog for this important theme - and decided to dedicate today to it. For a special reason. For a special person.

I'm sure all of us know someone who has been affected by cancer - or lost loved ones to some form of this horrible disease. Today, as I'm writing one of my friends is presently recovering from the surgery she had earlier today - for a mastectomy.

So my blog post today is dedicated to her. It seems like such a natural day for me to remember to educate myself - and there is a whole website which addresses this issue.

I had really wanted to make a card for my friend using the colours provided for the last WPlus9 Colour Q Challenge - but just couldn't get the grey to agree with the light look I wanted. Full of life and hope. Hopefully those colours will still make an appearance here soon ;0)

This uses the pink we associate with this theme - but also some paper from Basic Grey's Sugared Collection - with the gorgeous green accents, and Waltzingmouse's darling Teeny Tiny Trees!

Some silk ribbon embroidery and some shiny rhinestone bling - for softness and sparkle. I'm looking forward to speaking with my friend soon and finding out how things went for her.

I promised an update on the hunkadorus' birthday card - and the news is good. But not THAT good ;0)!He liked the card and said so. So I really do think it went over well.

But he LOVED the chicken and mushroom dinner I made for him and RAVED about that.

What's that old saying about the way to a man's heart?? LOL!

If the sun comes out nicely tomorrow I may retake these pics. It looks like a lovely shower of rain is brewing!

Hi Peeps! Another week has started!

We finished collecting firewood on Saturday and have a lovely fire crackling today. It's deeply overcast and chilly - everyone feels cold right down into their bones. We're feeling *really* grateful for our happy blaze!

Here is a sneaky peek at my Hubby's birthday card! It's his birthday on Wednesday. He tells me that he very occasionally clicks onto my blog - but I don't think it's often enough to spoil a surprise :0)

He's a real CAS lover, I need a teeny bit more than the bare essentials - hopefully this one got it right for both of us!

The top panel has the leaf die cut through it - the one underneath it has the leaf stamped with Antique Linen Distress Ink and the veins are heat embossed with gold.

Ta - da! I'll report back in due time with how it went down *wink*! LOL :0)

Helloooooo and a Tuesday Trigger!

Hi Peeps!! I've been a bit AWOL lately, I'm so sorry! :0) We had a fabulous Thanksgiving and have celebrated another birthday in the family .... and next week we get to rejoice with the Hunkadorus on his special day too!

Look at this beautiful picture which Cath Edvalson put out for the Trigger on the Moxie Fab Blog this week - *sigh* it's just sooooooo elegant! The Trigger is called - "Languish in Luxurious"!

I pretty much knew straight off the bat which direction I wanted to go (courtesy of a little inspiration from Maile Belles - she has been making these cute frames lately ...)

The Damask Designs was a given - don't you think? And I thought the rhinestones sort of echoed the bright orchids against the wallpaper background. They almost seem to float in space!

The satin bow is a tribute to the 'luxe' idea in the Trigger title!

On a final note, I have some pretty exciting news to share with everyone - hopefully soon. It's just bursting to come out - but these things take a bit of time! Eeeeek!

Teeny Tiny Tree!

Hi everyone! If you've been around the blogging world lately you've probably heard more than one person talk about how amazing Claire's new "Teeny Trees" set is, from Waltzingmouse. Well, I'm another convert! They are simply ADORABLE! There are even little trees in there that remind me of those cutie pics that children's books are decorated with. It's hard not to exclaim out loud when they make an impression on paper - soooo cute!

This card was inspired by one that I saw here on Debby's blog - so clean and refreshing!

Lots of ruffles, pearls and lace :0) I had a real desire to make something girly. The background cardstock is PTI's new Fine Linen.

A bit of gold embossing for the stars (isn't that just the most amazing decoration for a tree??! Eeek - it's lovely! I just can't get over the creativity that went into this set!) and some white embossing for the Fancy Flourish.

Hi Peeps!! Firstly a HYOOOOOOGE thank you to everyone who left me love for my birthday! It was sincerely appreciated - and I had the most incredibly wonderful day! Just one of those days where everything is slow and mellow and happy!

I was given something really lovely - and have been commenting on the cut, colour, brilliance and clarity ever since ... scroll down for a view at those lovelies :0) heeee!

And a little card - I'm not the only one blessed with a birthday at this time of the year. This was made for a friend :

Not complicated - just sweet ... and I think she will like it that way :0) Do you know that this new wreath set actually arrived on my birthday too - wooohooo, fabulous timing!

Just a little prisma glitter in the flower centres for some sparkle and a bit of inking on the edges to keep it soft!

Now for the fun :0)

About that "brilliance, clarity, cut and colour" .... aren't they just lovely :0)!! My hubby really knows the way to my heart - these are proving a dream to use! I'm so thrilled that the lines are etched into them - my previous blocks were thin (easy to drop) and the lines are all wearing off because they were painted on. A real love affair happening here with these guys, I can tell 'ya!

W Plus 9 - Colour Cue Challenge

Hi Peeps! I have been thinking about these Color Cue colours at W Plus 9 for a while .... (quite a while... the challenge closes in 2 days :0)!

I tried a few different ideas, but always felt that the end result was too 'rich' and overwhelming - it needed lots of white.

So in the end - this is where it went:

And it really felt better with all the lovely clean 'breathing space' in there to me :0)

The flower was made with Beautiful Blooms Dies, the circles are stamped with the Embellishments stamp set and heat embossed.

Used two shades of gray on this one ... Smokey Shadow and Soft Stone ...
